The first t-shirt-like clothing appeared in the second half of the 19th century. It was used by miners as effective protection against dust and heat. However, the t-shirt, in its modern form, was created in 1898 for the United States Army. Four years later, in 1955, the movie Rebel Without a Cause was released, where the main character also appeared in the already classic white t-shirt.
